RECYCLING Since 1995, Wisconsin State Law has required recycling statewide.  The more you recycle, the less garbage you will have.  There is no limit on the amount of recyclables you can set out for collection, and there is no additional charge.  For more information on how you can obtain a recycling bin, contact City Hall at 715-762-2436.  You may also use your own container, such as a storage tote or basket. GARBAGE Pick-up within the Park Falls City limits are as follows: North of Hwy 182 & the entire East side of the Flambeau River is collected every Monday (or Tuesday following a national holiday) South of Hwy 182 is collected every Tuesday (or Wednesday following a national holiday) The refuse rate, effective March 7, 2011, is $34 per quarter for every household unit in the city limits.  This fee is included on your water and sewer utility billing.  The fee includes weekly collection and disposal of one can of garbage not to exceed 33 gallons nor weigh more than 60 pounds.  All cans must have lids securely placed.  If you have more than one can of garbage in a week you can stop in at City Hall during normal business hours to purchase a garbage sticker for $3 each.  This sticker must be placed on the top bag inside each additional can (not to exceed 33 gallons or 60 pounds).  Do not place the sticker on the can itself.  The sticker must be clearly visible to the garbage hauler when the lid is lifted off the can.  If our hauler cannot see the sticker, that garbage will not be collected.  There is no limit to how many stickers you may purchase.  Loose bags that are not in a can will not be collected.  The use of lids is required for several reasons, the first of which is to maintain a fair way of measuring the amount of garbage collected, as well as to keep animals and birds from dispersing trash on your lawn.  Also, when it rains or snows, we are paying for extra weight being disposed of into the landfill.  If we can keep these rates down, we pass the savings along to our residents.  Contact City Hall if you have any additional questions at 715-762-2436.
